The Hurt Locker continues on its award-winning way as the Los Angeles Film Critics Association (LAFCA) and the Alliance of Women Film Journalists (AWFJ) join the chorus in voting the timely drama best film of 2009. The LA group also showed some love to District 9, the sleeper hit of the summer, which earned two of the group’s awards. District 9 picked up wins in the New Generation and Production Design categories.

The Alliance of Women Film Journalists awarded The Hurt Locker best film and gave the film’s cast its best ensemble award. Director/producer Kathryn Bigelow earned the group’s 2009 EDA Award for “Outstanding Achievement By a Woman In The Film Industry” as well as best director and best female director honors.
